Negative Pressure Wound Therapy (NPWT) is used for promoting the closure of chronic or otherwise difficult wounds. NPWT is applied through a porous dressing which allows fluids to be drawn away from the wound bed under a carefully controlled partial vacuum. This removes harmful materials, stimulates the growth of new tissue and promotes the growth of new blood vessels into that tissue.

As patent holders in this technology, we have a good understanding of the changing IP landscape in this area. We have particular capabilities in developing the device related technologies required to deliver NPWT safely and effectively to a wound. More...

Therapeutic Temperature Management (TTM) is used to reduce and mitigate ischemic damage to the brain by cooling patients by around 4°C (7°F) for 48 hours. A study published in the New England Journal of Medicine in 2003 demonstrated a clear benefit to patients who had suffered prolonged cardiac arrest before resuscitation. Both the European Resuscitation Council and the American Heart Association recommend that unconscious cardiac arrest patients be treated with tightly controlled cooling.

Various methods are employed to cool patients - some of them more controlled than others, some more labour intensive than others. Our expertise is in the development of advanced systems for measuring patient temperature and delivering precisely controlled amounts of cooling or warming to maintain the patient's temperature at the prescribed level. As patent holders in this field too, we have world class expertise in this unique and exciting therapy. More...
